YMCA Camp St. Croix’s DayCroix, 345 Riverview Drive, sponsored by PCK Foundation.  Candle-lit trails for cross-country skiing and hiking.  Free cross country ski and snow shoe rentals (limited quantities).  No pets, only service animals please.  Complimentary refreshments hosted by Art Doyle’s Spokes and Pedals and YMCA Camp St. Croix.  Come see a hot air balloon.  Masks required indoors.  FREE EVENT!

HHAA VIRTUAL PAINTING CLASS with AUDREY MARTIN
, featuring hot air balloon.  Video tutorial class comes with step by step instructions and complete painting kit (traced canvas, paints & brushes).  Free porch pickup or mail delivery with an additional charge.  Porch pickups on January 27 and January 30 from 9:00 am – 7:00 pm.  $35 adults, $25 for children. Must pre-register at Audey’s Canvas Parties on Facebook.

VIRTUAL 5K RUN/WALK
, sponsored by Thrivent Financial – Tracy Berglund, Integrity Cleaners, CZ Designs, Creative Homes and Anderson Race Management.  Ongoing virtual race—all age groups and shirts available.  Results posted by individuals on Anderson Race Management with final results on February 15.  $25 registration fee includes shirt and shipping. 1:00 pm: VIRTUAL DAVE & SUE JOHNSON BALLOON BUILDERS, ARTISTS & AERONAUTS VIDEO, presented by RPS Balloon.  Hot air balloon pilots and artists Dave and Sue Johnson put giant art creations in the sky with their hot air balloon envelope gems.  Over the years, the Minneapolis couple designed and sewed seven story masterpieces that are still flying today.  The Hot Air Affair featured their most famous jewel—the red, blue and yellow Montgolfier—at the 2020 balloon rally in Hudson.

Charlie Markert3:00 pm:  VIRTUAL CHARLIE MARKERT PAINTS THE SKY VIDEO, presented by Valley Agency.  World famous hot air balloon artist Charlie Markert created dozens of masterpieces standing 7stories high.  The former billboard painter switched mediums to balloon envelopes and Sky High Art became world renowned. The Hudson Hot Air Affair honored Charlie’s talents in 2016 when four of his creations—Amadeus, Molly & Me, Carousel and Cap’n Boo were inflated on the launch field.

Tourchlight Parade7:00 pm:  VIRTUAL “BRINGING the FUN TO 2021” TORCHLIGHT PARADE VIDEO.  Join the FUN and watch the best of the best Torchlight Parade video highlights from the past 30+ years.  The costumes, the
balloon burners, the marching kazoo bands—what are your favorite memories?  Settle in for some silliness with this video.

your home or car windows and look to the sky for winter balloon color!  Event highlight!  Flights are weather dependent.

11:00 am – 4:00 pm:  OCTAGON HOUSE MUSEUM TOURS and MORE, 1004 3rd Street, sponsored by Guinn, Vinopal & Zahradka, LLP Accountants.  Come shop and see the Octagon House Museum where local vendors will greet you in the parlor, library, dining room, kitchen and Carriage House.  $5 suggested donation for admittance.  Also offering 2 self-guided walking tours—Historic Hudson Revisited and historic buildings in the Downtown.  Maps and booklets available at the Octagon House Museum.  $1 each suggested donation.

Smoosh Board1:00 pm:  VIRTUAL SMOOSH BOARD COMPETITIONS, coordinated by Catalyst Powered by TCO.  Watch Hot Air Affair’s wackiest winter sport with host announcer John Knutson and some of our previous smooshing winners.  Reminisce over the past years’ shenanigans of sports
competition and relive the best of host John Knutson’s memorable costumes.

2:30 pm:  VIRTUAL SUMMER BALLOONING and HONORING a BALLOONING PIONEER, presented by Citizens State Bank.  The sun is shining, the St. Croix is shimmering and the trees and grass are green —join local balloonists for a leisurely virtual cruise thru the river valley.
Then sit back for a ballooning history lesson about inventor, entrepreneur and ballooning pioneer Don Piccard from Minneapolis.

J Bucklew Moon Glow5:30 – 6:30 pm: DRIVE-THRU BALLOON and CANDLESTICK GLOW EVENT, at a Hudson location to be determined. Sponsored by Hall Family Foundation.  Inflated hot air balloons and glowing burners light up the darkness as you enjoy from the comfort of your vehicle.  St. Croix Electric Cooperative and Family Fresh Market – River Falls offer other lighted displays.

2:00 pm: VIRTUAL THE PEREGRINE FALCON VIDEO from Carpenter Nature Center. Presented by Angel’s Pet World. The hot air balloons aren’t the only sights you might see flying in the St. Croix Valley.  Moving much faster, but equally adept at pleasing spectators, the peregrine falcon is a popular choice with bird watchers.  Here’s the scoop on that fast mover

3:00 pm:  VIRTUAL 1995 BALLOONIST ROUNDTABLE – REVISITED VIDEO. Some things never change—and Hudson Hot Air Affair is proud to say that what was perfection in 1995 holds true today.  Beautiful hot air balloons in the sky, skilled friendly pilots launching and landing the colorful behemoths in the snow.  Rewind the calendar to 1995 and join a pilot
roundtable and look for familiar faces still coming to Hudson’s annual winter hot air balloon rally.
